Made to Move - where next for cycling in Greater Manchester?

Tuesday 22nd September | 12.15pm  - 1.15pm

As Greater Manchester Mayor, Andy Burnham has committed to encouraging increased cycling and walking levels across the Greater Manchester region.

At the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) meeting in December 2017, the Mayor and the ten council leaders unanimously adopted the 'Made to Move' programme.

Made to Move is an ambitious vision for cycling and walking in the region and proposed a £1.5 billion infrastructure fund to be invested over the next ten years, bringing Greater Manchester’s spending on cycling and walking in line with London.  The goals are to double and double again levels of cycling and to make walking the natural choice for as many short trips as possible.

New funding from the Department for Transport's emergency active travel fund will see more walking and cycling schemes to be delivered across Greater Manchester.

With 250 million car journeys a year in Greater Manchester being less than 1km. The potential for changes in the way we travel  is huge.
